I Am Not The Same

On, or maybe just a little bit both, I am not the same
I am not the same,
I wanna eat a dog,
I wanna go out with a hound dog man,
Go drinking blood and thunder and lightning,
I wanna go out on a limb,
Where there’s nothin’ to tie me up
I wanna see the future,
I wanna feel the past,
I wanna give my best,
I wanna live it,
I wanna pick me up
And where we can go
I wanna see the world,
I wanna feel the pain
I wanna spend a great white of a day
I wanna rub my stomach.

And The Sky Is Falling

I feel like I’m on fire
And the sky is falling
The days of the melting pot
Are only in your eyes
No matter what I say
I’m still gonna see you dancing
In this barroom maybe
Even shaking your hand
And even if I couldn’t move
She must have been my name
It’s hard to believe
It’s hard to face the truth
I could never love enough to get here
And in one grand love you’re the one who wrote
The tune
The tune that I used to make
I believe I’m on fire
And the sky is falling
I feel like I’m on fire
And the sky is falling
I feel like I’m on fire
And the sky is burning
I feel like I’m on fire.

Cause I’m Gonna Stay

Cause I’m gonna stay
There is a sign on the wall
That tells me where we are headed
I’m going back there
I’m gonna stay there
Wanna wake up to the sunlight
And see just what’s in your eyes
And you’re a stranger
In this town
We’ve done all the things we wanted to
And we still can’t find the door
So let’s just take a walk
Through each tear we may yet fall
Wanna thank you, I won’t say goodbye
Cause these tears are deep
There’s a hole in my mouth that needs to be filled
Just want you to fill that one more cup
Of your magic fresh out of my hand
Every day.

How Much Longer

You’re watching me now
I feel it in my bones
But I’ll never let you go
It doesn’t matter who she is
It doesn’t matter who she cares about
She’s the only thing I’ve got
A long, long way to go.
I’ve been waiting long a time
For you to show
How much longer
Keep waiting here for pleasure
That’s what it feels like
To be alone.
If I was a telegram sender,
I would receive
All the reams of your love
And if I was one sent me your love berry
Diggin’ everywhere the wind in your hair
Would blow me every corner of the earth
If I was one sent me your love berry
Diggin’ everywhere the wind in your hair

They’ll Make A Deal

To make a deal
We’ll find the deal
The old man walks on honey,
The young man looks put,
The old man sighs, “My days are numbered.”
They’ll make a deal
It’s a long old story
They been walking in this city
They’ve been crying and crying
It’s a long old fight
And the answer is screaming now.
On the street in this small town,
In this hot, bright world,
People dream of being free,
They dream of somewhere.
You can say it ain’t free,
It ain’t free.
It ain’t fair to me.
I wrote this love letter,
I wrote it to you.

We’re On The Ropes

It’s your time you’re waiting and
How much more can we take,
What more can we take,
We’re on the ropes,
How much more can we take,
We’re on the ropes
We’re on the ropes
We’re on the ropes
We’re on the ropes
You know it’s really one of me
You know it’s really one of me
We’re together again but now you’re leavin’
You know it’s really your life somehow
It’s your life but
You knew it’d be true
Now you push your luck
And you know it’s really your life
You know it’s really your life
You know it’s really your life
You know it’s really your life

I Promise

So don’t stop me
If you want me to please settle down
Look inside me
I promise
I’ll never let you go
If you care
Look inside me
I say
I promise
I’ll never let you go
My love has flown away, it’s always frozen in mid air
The promise we made once again
The cold hard truth is stranger than fiction
The promise we made again
The cold hard truth is stranger than fiction
My love has flown away
The promise we made once again
I can feel it in the air, where my heart is
Where the songs that we sing are still fresh
In this room, where the music plays so easy
Keep on coming back, I can hear you near
Keep on coming back, I can hear you running away.

Hidden, Hidden In Your Eyes

I never asked for forgiveness, this time,
Or even to understand I did,
Or to step outside of my comfort zone,
Sometimes I wonder what I mean.
I wish that this was not the end of my story.
Here with you, baby, let me never leave.
Here with you, baby, won’t you let me stand here.
Here with you, baby, won’t you let me stand here.
Understand that love is in your eyes,
Hidden, hidden in your eyes
Here with me, let me never go.
Here with you, baby, won’t you let me stand here
Understand that love is in your eyes.
Hidden, hidden, hidden in your eyes, yeah.
Here with you, girl, won’t you let me stand here.

She Can’t Speak

’cause you can’t hear her
She’s lost a lot of love
And she’s lost her voice
I know that’s why she had to go away
She’s lost the joy of loving
When you leave it all behind
Well I can tell when you’re gone
She can hardly see you
She can’t speak
It’s only for the best
Her breathing when you come home
Doesn’t seem to matter to me
There’s never any doubt about me
I keep all the answers
I’m counting the leftovers
For the last time you’ll be eating for me
I’m coming home to California
And as you can see there’s no car
No man could live on a breadline
If we just packed our bags’n’rolls.

When They’re Running Late

When they’re running late,
You know you’re the one who chose not to stay
For if you wanted, you knew
How the city would die
‘B outa it all right.
When they’re running late,
You know you’re the one who chose not to stay.
You know I like your juke joint, baby.
I think it’s rather slow,
Getting too heavy, I let you crash the plane.
Pretty pretty baby, in your next life.
You better hang on to your honey pie,
’till baby’s a hunted man.
Flying high upon the table,
Lookin’ every time she comes near,
I’m holding on to what I’ve got.
Pretty pretty baby, in your next life.

Writing Funny Poetry
